The Singing River Health System stated that the August 2023 ransomware attack impacted 895,204 individuals.
The Mississippi-based healthcare provider operates multiple hospitals and medical facilities across the Gulf Coast region.
What data was exposed in the breach?
According to the data breached notice, the exposed information includes:
- full names
- dates of birth
- physical addresses
- Social Security Numbers (SSNs)
- and medical and health information.
Despite the data theft, there is no evidence of identity theft or fraud at this time.
The organization offers 24 months of credit monitoring and identity restoration services through IDX to those affected.
Who is responsible for the attack?
The Rhysida ransomware group, known for targeting healthcare providers, claimed responsibility for the attack.

They have reportedly leaked about 80% of the stolen data, which includes a catalog of 420,766 files (754 GB), explains Bleeping Computer.
What steps should the impacted individuals take?
Affected individuals are advised to enroll in IDX’s monitoring services, be wary of unsolicited communications, monitor their accounts for suspicious activities, and consider placing a security freeze on their credit reports.
