Zack Weiner, a City Council candidate running in Manhattan, New York, admitted to enjoying BDSM after a video of him engaging in a sadomasochism session was anonymously published online last week and went viral on Twitter and OnlyFans.

As a consequence, both social networking services reacted and deleted user accounts that intentionally and non-consensually shared a BSDM video showing a nearly naked Weiner “gagged and with his nipples clipped as he subjected himself to various abuses by a woman in a leather suit who was pouring wax on him.”

Both platforms considered the incident to be a violation of their policies.

The BDSM video of the 26-year old man started circulating on Twitter and OnlyFans via accounts with identical usernames and profile pictures.

Twitter suspended an account that shared the video hours after it was leaked for violation of its spam and platform manipulation policy.

It is interesting that the account was not suspended for Twitter’s non-consensual nudity policy, despite the fact that the video seems to be what is informally referred to online as “revenge porn.”

When asked, the account user stated it got the BDSM video from a dominatrix friend.

According to Motherboard, an OnlyFans account with an identical username and profile picture to the one that shared the video on Twitter also posted and sold clips from the same video.

OnlyFans only removed the video more than 24 hours after Motherboard reached out to the company for comment, saying it was in violation of OnlyFans’ Terms of Service.

Zack Weiner’s Reaction

Weiner declared the video was taken almost three years ago with an ex-girlfriend he met during a Halloween party in 2019. Conveniently enough, the leak happened right before local elections are to take place in New York City.

The 26-year old politician confirmed that he is the man in the video saying that he is not ashamed of participating in a recreational activity nobody forced him into.

Like many young people, I have grown into a world where some of our most private moments have been documented online.

While a few loud voices on Twitter might chastise me for the video, most people see the video for what it is: a distraction.

Zack Weiner asked people to vote for candidates based on their policies and the ability to serve the community. The politician is counting on the support of lots of people who admire him for his courage to open up and talk about a taboo topic – BDSM.

He’s owning it! They wanted to shame him but they just made themselves look bad. I don’t even know who this guy is or what video he’s talking about, but good for him.

Zack Weiner’s case is one that is becoming increasingly ordinary as a generation of people who grew up in the internet era are getting into politics.

In 2018, opponents of Eric Brakey, who won the Maine Republican nomination for US Senate, found a video of him doing the Harlem Shake dance in underwear.
