Instagram users might have taken the greatest Halloween scare ever yesterday after they found themselves unable to access their accounts for a while.
Users started experiencing login issues yesterday, some of them even being informed that their accounts have been suspended, without a trace of a legitimate reason behind the ban. The Instagram problem occurs a week after WhatsApp suffered an outage, leaving billions of users without the possibility of sending or receiving text through the messaging app for hours.
Investigations Have Started
Instagram’s PR team used Twitter to announce that they are experiencing problems and have started looking into them.
We're aware that some of you are having issues accessing your Instagram account. We're looking into it and apologize for the inconvenience. #instagramdown

According to a vast flood of reports, those whose accounts have been suspended have 30 days to object to the suspension and are instructed to follow some processes to request a review. Besides problems with accessing their accounts, users have also reported large drops in their follower numbers due to the outage.
The problem has been fixed in the meantime and Instagram is back to normal. Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, also took to Twitter and publicly apologises for the problems that might have been caused by the platform’s problems.
