Data Collection, Use, and Sharing


We collect the following types of data to enhance your security and user experience:

1. Email Address

Used to communicate with you regarding important app updates, security alerts, and customer support. This ensures that you are always informed about the latest features and any potential security issues.

2. Device or Other IDs

Collected to uniquely identify your device. This allows us to enhance the performance of the app and ensure the security of your device.

3. Approximate Location

Used to offer localized security recommendations and threat alerts, ensuring that you are protected based on your geographical context.

4. Precise Location

Collected for advanced security features, such as locating a lost or stolen device.

5. Web Browsing History (DNS Queries)

Collected for advanced security features, such as locating a lost or stolen device.

6. Crash Logs and Other App Performance Data

Collected to improve the app’s stability and performance by diagnosing and fixing bugs.

7. Installed Apps

Collected to scan for malicious software and ensure that the apps installed on your device are safe.

Sharing of Data

As a general rule, we do not share your personal information with third parties. However, there are specific circumstances under which sharing data is necessary to provide and enhance the security features of the Heimdal Mobile Security app.

To maximize protection for your mobile device, we occasionally need to share specific details with our OEM partner. For instance, to facilitate app scanning and security assessments, we transmit data about your device's installed apps to our OEM partner, Avira, via their API at https://query-api.eu1.apc.avira.com. This partnership enables us to identify and mitigate potential threats effectively, thereby protecting your device from malware and vulnerabilities.

We share this information to enhance our security measures and provide you with a more effective mobile security service. Please be assured that any data sharing is carried out with the utmost confidentiality and is strictly limited to what is necessary for improving your device’s security.

  • To identify your device within our Heimdal Dashboard platform using DeviceID.
  • To provide location-based security features and alerts using your Approximate and Precise Location.
  • To analyze and secure your internet browsing activities by identifying potential threats through your Web Browsing History (DNS Queries).
  • To enhance app performance and ensure a smooth user experience by diagnosing and fixing bugs using Crash Logs and Other App Performance Data.
  • To perform security scans and protect against harmful software using information about Installed Apps.

1. License status check


To validate the Heimdal Security license status, Heimdal™ Mobile connects to its own servers. When this happens, the following information is being sent:

Android device identification (ID);

Android version;

Android model number;

Device name;

License key;

Device language;

Build identifier;

Heimdal™ Mobile version;

E-mail address;

IP address.

We use this data to check the license status and connect the license to the device.

2. License reset


The license is reset upon user request by contacting Heimdal Support.

3. App updates check


Update checks are performed periodically through Google Play Store, from where the app has been installed. You can choose to update the app downloaded and installed on your Android device manually or automatically. Updating Heimdal™ Mobile gives users access to the latest features and improvements available. It also ensures the app is more secure and safe to prevent online threats.

4. Blocking filters updates check


To check the blocking filters updates, Heimdal™ Mobile connects to its servers. When it happens, it checks the license status as well. The application periodically downloads a file with all filter versions and their available updates.

5. Trial period request


A user can opt for a 30-day free trial period to test Heimdal™ Mobile. When the trial period is requested by user, the following information is being sent to our server to activate the trial period:

Android device identification (ID);

Android version;

Android model number;

Device name;

Device language;

Build identifier;

Heimdal™ Mobile version;

E-mail address;

IP address.

6. When Heimdal™ Mobile crashes


After installing the application, crash reports are automatically sent. The following information will be sent to our servers when the app crashes:

Device name and model;

OS version and kernel build;

ROOT checker;

Unidentifiable Android ID;

Application name and version;

Detailed information about the crash;

Log files.

This data is then used by our development team to investigate the crash and fix the possible errors.

7. Domain security check


If the Darklayer Guard feature is enabled, Heimdal™ Mobile checks every domain before the user visits it. When this happens, the following data is transmitted:

URLs of visited websites;

DNS requests.

Contacting the support team


Users can send messages and emails to our support team directly from the app, with more detailed information about their technical issues. No data will be sent or collected unless the user validates the submission.
